For total and near beginners who are learning on their own,  in addition to some of the do it yourself learn french methods and guides, here are some books to help you dive into real French!

Have fun learning French culture through original, authentic children's books! And you can also revisit childhood stories that have been translated into French,   Amusez-vous!  

P.S.  Don't worry if you don't understand every word -- even if you are new to French, you can look up the ones you see over and over again, and most of these stories will still be easy to grasp through pictures and simple sentences in French.
